LONG TIME NO BLOG...

June 19, 2009

Wow, it's NOT raining today.

It's been raining a lot lately and I'm so pleased to see a dry sidewalk.

When it's not raining, I can ride my scooter... and if I can ride my scooter that means lots of good times + fast journeys around this lovely city.

I bought an alternative to the Bose ipod player called the TEAC CD-X10i

HiFi- System yesterday.

I'm gonna lay out all the parts and see what this thing can do.  I'll probably test it out with a "Tinted Windows" track and maybe the new Avenue B "We Click"  song I wrote, made for the BFF TV webisode.

Did I mention that Avenue B has a new song & video that debuted in TIMES SQ?!

THAT was pretty cool.  The video is below.  Dom did an EXCELLENT job editing all of our day to day craziness and our love for one another into a 3:38 song.

We Click

Sunday is Father's Day.

The 21st of June...if you didn't know already.

I'm looking forward to spending it with my Dad and all 5 beautiful siblings.

That's right, I have 3 other siblings besides my bandmates Dominique & Gabriela.  Crazy right?

I wanna travel to Greece.  If you have recommendations on where to go in Greece please feel free to share.

I'd like to leave you with a quote by the sexy James Dean....

Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.

Now, ain't that the way it should be,

Lakehouse Goodness...

December 28, 2008

Hola!

I'm writing from a quaint little house on Whaley Lake.

We arrived on Christmas Eve and I've enjoyed every moment since I got here.

The view is spectacular.  The mist that rolls over the water is so beautiful. Our friend Jason stopped by for a day and brought his killer Nikon D300 camera and LOTS of photography started happening.

The calm that I feel in this place is something I'm been craving.

All I wanna do is stare out at the lake and write songs all day.

Too bad this vacation has to end...

I included a photo of "Avenue B" in the matching shirts Santa brought.

Gotta love Santa :-)

OK, gotta go eat pie and dish out my ideas on love, relationships and plans for the future with my ladies....

a few words of wisdom for the starving artist... ha

December 14, 2008

so I thought i'd pay a visit to the one love blog and give a little update on this clear and wonderfully mild winter evening.

the arciero sisters (AKA Avenue B) have been very busy lately with birthdays. that's right, there are many a Sagittarius in our lives. Loretta Munoz, wonderful woman extraordinaire (yes, she seems to make a living out of being a wonderful woman), our very own Olivia who turned 24, also her boyfriend whom we just surprised last night with a 2-bedroom apartment full of friends/family and shocked the socks off of... and the list continues... It's been fun!  Great excuse to bake carrot cake, my specialty.

i was chatting with a new acquaintance last night who happens to be an entertainment attorney and couldn't help but remember one thing in particular that she said.  We were talking music and what it's like to be an artist today.. and the importance of figuring out who exactly your fan base is and just going for them as hard as you can.  those fans will be indispensable once you stick to focusing on them- the people who really love what you do.  she said it's like, whomever you'd be heartbroken to find out DOESN'T love your music is who you should be going for. i thought it was a great point if you think about it. If you don't care that a 53 year old doesn't dig what you're singing about or cant relate, then chances are you don't need to focus on marketing to them.  so I guess we've always been about getting everyone to listen to our music because honestly, everyone did love it.  kids loved it and their moms did too.  We started out making music we believed was "for everyone" to relate to...  but nowadays when you're trying to break a young act, that won't help define what the band needs to gain maximum exposure.  well maybe it's a no-brainer for most people, but I think it's great advice for artists who THINK they appeal to the everyone but are struggling to be heard. It got my marketing wheels spinning!

in other news I'm really excited about the holidays and Manhattan in December is always beautiful. however I totally miss being in the country on Christmas, (and i think i can speak for my sisters on that) so I'm happy that we're going to be staying in a house upstate for the holiday and snuggling up by the fireplace together. :)

alright enough out of me. happy holidays and stay warm. i'm off to enjoy a nice steamy cup of hot cocoa. :)

marathons, gossip girl, & hating winter.

November 11, 2008

hey guys,

it's dominique the 2nd oldest of the clan. this is my first blog on the one love site. yayyy:)

so we played at the NYC marathon on the 2nd of november and froze our ballllllllzzzzz off. why mother nature had to make that the coldest day of the year so far, and then warm it up 10 degrees the next day, i do not know. i think it's unfair, but we've been pretty unfair to her so, i guess it's fair.

in other news, our dad just received 2 new babies via a caesarian section at the NYU hospital on 1st ave.  his wife, my stepmom, had them technically, but I still can't get over the fact that cutting open your stomach, temporarily removing organs, extracting a premature baby and putting everything back is considered childbirth.  you know what, i don't really have a problem with it, i just can't imagine going through that. unfortunately it was the only way for her because she's older (41) and the little girl's head was facing the wrong way.  they came out perfect.   a girl and a boy.  The Arciero girls never thought we'd have a brother. i can't wait to see if he kicks ass at sports. my dad's a super athlete so it would be pretty ironic if Little Peter failed him at the dream he's had his entire life of one day having a son who becomes the world's next tennis star. heehee, we'll see...

last night i watched a full episode of gossip girl for the first time. if you wanna know my opinion, i think the actors are far too intense to be high school students, like, really. even if they're loaded and jaded by their dysfunctional families and have a level of freedom every kid literally has DREAMS about when they're in high school.. their anger, sadness, frustration, sex appeal, impeccable scheming ways are all just... silly.  don't get me wrong, i was into it. every 20 seconds i turned to my sister whispering "who's that? who did he date? who's mom is that? why does he hate him? omg she's supposed to be 15?!" ... yes it bothers me that it's unrealistic and yes it bothers me that i didn't - NO ONE HAS - that intense of a sex life at 17 and i didn't ride around in limos or have a boy make my face magically appear on a TV in times square. But then again this is coming from someone who was obsessed with The O.C. box sets. maybe i should get the DVDs...

til next time

XOXO

GABBY'S FIRST BLOG!!!!

September 17, 2008

Hellooo :-)

This is MY first blog entry on the One Love and i'm pretty excited about it!

It's 11:35pm right now and i'm actually flying to London in about 4 hours! Ahhh

I don't mind flying but the immigration people in England scare the shit out of me every time.

Anyways, I just got my first tattoo yesterday!!! I have yet to take a picture but when I do i'll post a picture for you all to see :-)

I got home 2 days ago from Bermuda, it was my first time there and I loved it. It was so beautiful and I took tons of pictures that I can show you. Avenue B went to play a show there and we had so much fun. The Bermudians made a great audience and we got to play outside next to the water which was BEAUTIFUL.

I gotta go get some sleep before I fly but I will update again soon!

Pictures from Bermuda follow....xoxoxo

CROSS-COUNTRY TOUR

August 31, 2008

HEY Y'ALL!!

So, I just got back from a serious 2 week Cross-Country ROAD TRIP/TOUR with the girls.  IT WAS AWESOME!

FIRST STOP: COLTON, NEW YORK

font: 13.0px Chalkboard;">We played a big bash right on this gorgeous lake 'til 2 am. I also went with Dominique to get a free teeth cleaning early in the am the day of the show.  I was flashing my pearly whites EVERY chance I could get.  My cheeks were aching by the end of the night.

Gabby turned 18 at midnight so we celebrated by getting serious sugar rushes with the gold M&M's we'd requested (we didn't think they'd actually fill our rooms with them!)

2nd stop: TORONTO, CANADA

Toronto totally rocked, we played at THE SUPERMARKET, which is a really cool venue/restaurant that was featuring some killer artwork. The "HEY TOOTS!" series by Bernice Lum + works by Alex Arnott was totally up my alley. I kinda think it looks like me as a cartoon. :-)

We celebrated Gabby's Birthday with our friends that live in Toronto w/sushi, drinks and cake. Gabby got a trip to Japan for her birthday (I got her hot pink luggage so she could travel in style).

3rd Stop: CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

We pulled into Chicago and camped out at a Starbucks to get online a bit. Gabby and I went shopping together and I got some really cute red heels and a black dress for our show that night.

We showed up at the gig about an hour early and immediately ordered some "Chicago Style" pizza pies to eat after the show. We met a super cute couple(massage therapist and artist) that had a gallery next door. After our show they hosted us for some beers and pizza in the gallery. It was pretty cool.

4th Stop: DENVER, COLORADO

When we got to Denver we played the show, took some cool sunset photos and then went for some asian fusion cuisine at P.F.Changs for dinner before we took off for Sweet, ID

5th Stop:  SWEET, IDAHO

When we got to Sweet, Idaho we stayed with the former Sheriff(Mark) & his wife(Krista) and an ex-military veteran(Gary) and his wife(Cindy).

Both couples have a huge ranch with cattle & horses.

For 5 days we went non-stop with the modern day cowboys and cowgirls.

They took us riding, we went 4-wheeling in the canyons, white-water rafting, hiking(plus we each shot a shotgun for the first time up in the canyon mid-hike) and then we played a big show for the town the last day of our stay.

We had so much fun and the scenery was breathtaking.

After 2 weeks away from NYC, I was missing it like crazy.

It was a great trip, but I'm so glad to be back!

4 AM BIKE RIDE!!!

July 27, 2008

4 AM Bike Ride

So, the other night I woke up at 3:30 am and I rode my bicycle to Columbus Circle. I met up with a bunch of people that were all crazy enough to think that riding bicycles at 4 am through Manhattan was a really cool idea.

In the "City that never sleeps", we pedaled down Broadway through Times Square, weaved through narrow pathways in Central Park, flew down Park Avenue and the East River Path( caught the sunrise at 5:06 am), cut through the Financial District and wrapped up the excursion in Battery Park with croissants and coffee.

On a high, I cruised back home up the Hudson River Path so thankful I'd forced myself out of bed to have such a memorable experience.

It was AWESOME.

Biking is COOL,

                          Liv

April 09, 2008

Hi there,

I thought it was time I make my second entry here at THE ONE LOVE :-)

A lot has been happening since my last blog....

On Tuesday, March 25th, a very good friend of mine passed away.  Stephanie was only 21 years old. She was one of the sweetest, most loving human beings I'd every met.  I'd written a song for her that was about what it was like to lose her mom when she was sixteen to cancer. I hope to record the song and release it oneday in her memory.

Stephanie always wanted to be with her mother again and I know she must be ecstatic to be reunited with her in heaven.

RIP Stephanie

I LOVE YOU

On a more positive note, my sisters and I have been busy planning our music video.  We're set to film it at the end of April here in NYC.  I can't WAIT!

Also, my friend James Bourne and I have written and recorded a duet together that we're gonna be sharing soon.

SLEEPY SUNDAY

January 27, 2008

It’s just another sleepy Sunday morning here in Manhattan.? I'm getting ready to make a big batch of blueberry chocolate chip waffles and write a few tunes before regular rehearsals start again Monday morning.?

I play in a band with my two younger sisters, Gabriela and Dominique, whom I adore! I'll probably talk A LOT about them in my upcoming entries.?

If you'd like to put a visual to the names, visit:

http://avenuebmusic.com

We've just returned from our gig in Park City, Utah, where we were asked to play THE NEW YORK LOUNGE at The Sundance Film Festival. We caught two midnight screenings of the films "The Merry Gentleman"(starring, and directed by Michael Keaton) and "Slingshot Hip Hop", a documentary on Palestinian rappers.??

Our dear friend Loretta runs this fantastic music cafe on the main street for ASCAP. I saw several great artists there...check them out: Seawolf, Paddy Casey, Sondre Lerche, Justin Pierre from Motion City Soundtrack, our new pal Pat Monahan (amazing lead singer from the band Train), musicians Louis & Jerry who are A W E S O M E, and the legendary Patty Smith. Patty brought the house down. It takes a real rocker chick to spit on stage...I just feel bad for the fan that had to wipe it off his cheek!

If that’s not enough, I got to see my best friend "Charlotte Sometimes” rock out before my show.

Following AVENUE B's forty-minute set we boarded our flight back home to NYC. All in all, the trip was worth it, especially after my favorite celebrity sighting, JACK BLACK.
