It's a wonderful Life
October 24, 2007
I watched a movie about a year and a half ago, it's called It's a Wonderful Life, I saw it in July, which according to my friends, you're not allowed to watch that movie other than Christmas time.
It's one of the best movies in the world, we save it only for Christmas time, and almost feel required to watch it every year.
Two things that makes you do:
It makes you only think about friendship and how important everyone's life is only on Christmas and also makes you get sick of the movie or how incredible it really is.
That being said...
How much different do we treat the birth of God Himself?
We only think about the miracle of this once a year.
and we think we know so much about it that we forget how amazing it really was.
At this point I only apologize of saying this late and not early.
I think this story we should think about in July just as much (if not more) than December, because we need to start thinking about Jesus as a living person. Not a plastic figure that needs dusting.
Here are a few of the many things you can start thinking about all year round.
David, Abraham, Solomon, etc are all these people that looked forward to a certain day. Usually you can see what occupies someone's mind with reading their writings. All their writings were about getting excited to have the savior of the world in their blood line, etc.
Imagine growing up and having your parents tell you about this guy called Imanual (which I think is the coolest word in the english language). The reason it is so cool because the word means "God is with us". They all filled their minds with wonder of what God will look like when He comes as a man, what He will teach them and everything.
The creator of the world we take for granted is finally going to come.
Just really think about the wonder.
Ever hold a baby?
It's quite impossible to hold a bady and not be amazed about God's creation when you look into the babies eyes.
Imagine being the wisemen.
Holding this baby and KNOWING it IS God Himself. Imagine the very God that holds the stars in place, is in your arms.
I think you need to read that part again.
Then imagine this.
Imagine holding Thomas Edison in your arms and you knew what he was going to accomplish. Looking in that babies eyes, knowing that he would invent every form of entertainment. Before light bulbs and times square and the matrix, you just could only grasp a very very little of what that baby is going to change.
Now imagine it's Jesus, before you hear a million times about the miracles he has done. Imagine knowing he is going to change this very world, and re-define the word savior.
Imagine holding that child and looking to his eyes and know that Abraham and King David would have done anything to see what you're seeing.
I can go on forever, which means this story is something that should be thought about more than once a year.
Jesus isn't the reason for the season, he is the reason for life itself.
think more about this because I'm ending this way early.
your friend,
-Isaac

I couldn't even begin to imagine holding baby Jesus. O: Just thinking about it makes my stomach all butterfly-like. (part of it is because I dropped a baby once)
I think the reason for the season has been far lost. It's so caught up with gifts that hardly anyone even thinks of Jesus. (I know my family doesn't -_- )
