so hard....
Sorry i've been MIA for so long. been busy making money so i can pay off my school loans...it would be greaaat if i could win the lottery. I want a real J-O-B!!!!!!!! not this series of part time jobs that i manage to somehow stumble through every day. My spirit slowly dies a little more with each day i clock into one of my four "jobs"
on a happier note my roomate finally had her baby. Brielle Mae on October 14th. exactly a month before my birthday :) ps. she is cute as a button!
on the goals side of thing...i think i may just have my whole idea worked out for my first screenplay. now i just need to figure out how to write one in proper form! also I stumbled upon this very cool site called hitrecord.org it's about recording moments of life to make one big collabrative collage. it's a very interesting idea. check it out if you have some free time!!
much love <3
I once met a boy who's heart was made of stone.
No amount of fire nor ice could unleash him from his throne.
A captive of himself,
trapped in the empty shell he wore.
He never knew himself;
there would be no chances anymore.
Individuality no longer seen around,
when you hear those army voices blare
"together men, ONE sound."
Off to the war he went, holding his head high.
He never felt emotions;
he refused to be that guy.
Stone cold and alone, he stood proud and strong.
But, what's the point of living if you're meant to live that long
with nothing but a level head,
sheer focus on the prize,
no warm and happy memories
only empty lifeless eyes.
He fit right in like a square peg into it's proper hole.
If you listen closely you can hear the army voices go
"together men, ONE sound."
He sacrificed his life to fight the good fight.
In bed he lays frigid and alone at night.
His mind and body function as well as can be,
but his soul and his spirit died long before he met me.

was amazing. First off, I love Maya Rudolph in this role. She is funny and easy to relate with. and I don't need to mention how much I adore John Krasinski. But even the supporting cast added such a rich flavor of humor, eccentricity, and realism to the film. If you haven't seen it, you MUST.
I would love to be able to not have roots and just move at a whim. it would be absolutely amazing. maybe when i get my college debt paid off i'll find a job that allows me to travel. :)
Tell the nice people what you know about babies...
(if you've seen it you will know exactly what I'm talking about)
<3 Meg
my cast is finally off...and has been for a while so more posts will finally be coming!
Since the beginning of 09 i now know 5 people who are with child. it's amazing. My lovely friend jamie actually has a blog about her pregnancy which is so wonderful since I don't live that close to her. She put up the ultrasound pictures and it's so hard to believe that this tiny person is growing inside of her. But none the less in a few short months i will be going to plenty of baby showers and playing cheesy games and I love it!!!
so it's been about a month since i've written a blog. I blame it on the fact that I broke my hand on new years, so i'm resorting to the finger peck method of typing...no fun. lol I also am quite busy ferociously searching for jobs. I hope everyone had a great holiday and those of you who are back in school good luck with the rest of the semester! i get to take my stinky cast off on valentines day!!! yay.
yay i'm graduated!!!! but i have to wait until the end of january for my diploma.
To all those one lovers who I had the chance to meet at Angels and Kings, it was wonderful to put some faces to names!! we must do it again soon. and to those of you i haven't met yet i look forward to meeting you at some point hopefully!
I hope all of you have a merry christmas or are having a merry christmas...depending on the time. And if you don't celebrate, then have a great holiday season!!!

words cannot describe how wonderful today has been. My thesis conference is over...finally!! i presented and i'm done!! i interviewed Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, and John Hamm for their upcoming movie; a remake of the day the earth stood still. I babysat my favorite munchkins andddd it's SNOWING!!!!!!!! seriously, this day could not get any better. this day makes the fact that i have to write 3 term papers by monday seem less horrible. I'm going out and making snow angels in a bit with my neighbor, so if it's snowing by you i highly reccommend you do the same :)
happy winter <3

my dad always said to let people know that you're looking, because a decent amount of people get their jobs through word of mouth. So people, I'm looking!
I don't know exactly what I want to do, so i'm open to try anything as long as it's in the music industry. I'm leaning towards possibly Marketing, Promotions, PR, Writing/Editing, Interviewing, Touring, really anything. I know i've listed all different things, but my theory is how do you know what you really like until you've tried different options?
So if you hear of any bands, or record labels in the tri state area, or tours that need some help...let me know!
Thanks all, have a great day :)

This thanksgiving was overshadowed somewhat by the death of a highschool classmate of mine. He took his life and in the process left many people behind hurting and wondering why. A few of my good friends took it really hard. I hope that for whatever the reason he decided to exit early, he has finally found some peace.
Live young, Die fast. I love this lyric from Alkaline trio, because if not taken literally, it's really beautiful.
I want to live young for the rest of my life. I feel like there's some sort of magic to childhood and we should all try to hold on to it as long as possible. I miss the little things in my past, like feeling like the week leading up to christmas is the slowest torture ever and then not being able to sleep christmas eve, because i'm so excited for christmas morning. or having those awkward 7th grade dances where girls are on one side of the room and boys on the other for the first hour and then finally you work up the courage to go ask someone to dance. i miss that! I want to live as young as i can for as long as i can.
Graduation for me is fast approaching, and right now it feels like i have the world at my feet. Like i can do anything I want, there's dozens of paths. I'm both excited and terrified. I don't want to choose a job and get stuck in it because it's comfortable, but spend my life hating what i do. I also don't want to be stuck paying my school loans off forever because I chose a job that i like, but that pays horribly. I have no idea what i'm going to do next month when i get that diploma. But, even with all that fear, I want to hang on to this moment and this feeling forever, because it's amazing to think that right now the sky is the limit, I can do or be almost anything. It's amazing.
I am currently running my psychology thesis. It is very exciting, I feel like a real psychologist! We basically get to create a theory of our own and test it on students.
My study is Music and Emotion and basically I hypothesize that faster and more violent lyrics will cause people to think more aggressively as well as feel more aggressive after listening to the music. In order to test this i'm having my participants listen to 4 different songs,
beat it
Gangster's paradise
Eat it
Amish Paradise
I figure the real versions have somewhat violent lyrics and the weird Al versions of the songs could be used as their humorous counterparts!
So i take their pulse before the song and then after the song to see if anything has changed, and then they fill out a questionaire about primed words-whcih are words that have no negative or positve meaning, but listening to violent lyrics or humorous lyrics primes them to think of these words as either more violent or more humorous. It's really pretty cool.
As of yet, I think one of my hypotheses are going to be wrong, but that's ok, because that's what researching is all about!!

It has recently come to my attention that lately more and more people that i know are cheating on their significant others, or with people who have significant others.
WHYYY????? Is it something in the water? has it become a trend?? please tell me, because I don't get it.
If that's what's "in" this season, then count me out!
I thought this picture was appropriate and amusing...well maybe not for steven.

to sum up the weekend, I got birthday cake in my face thanks to frank (but i got even :p )I have a super ear infection (which i havent had since i was like 10), my editor got a bit too emotional at the bar, and my best friend (who has a boyfriend of 3 years) hooked up with one of my guy friends (who knew she had said boyfriend). but surprisingly despite all that nonesence I had a blast!!!!
Apparently if you wear a tiara it screams either birthday or bachelorette party (thanks for that susan) and people buy you shots!! so next time you're at the bar and it's your birthday/ bachelorette party don't forget to bring a pink plastic tiara with you!
The bar down at school was fun, the bar up at home was fun, and the concert last night was awesome. My roomate and I checked out the Jagermeister music tour featuring Rev. Theory, Trapt, and Hinder. Let me tell you, I have never heard of rev theory, but i am in love with them after their live show last night. They have alot of energy and alot of hair. Every one of them had such commanding stage presence. and they used tables to stand on, which gave them different levels and dimensions to their show which was very aesthetically pleasing.
you must check them out: www.myspace.com/revtheory
I'm not going to lie, after their kick ass performance, Trapt just really didn't do it for me. They didn't have the same kind of energy. Although the singer did sound just like he does on the cd, so that is a plus. we unfortunately didn't stay for hinder, because by that time we were both burned out by the weekend's events and my ear was killing me. but i will post the videos for you all to check out as soon as i get them off my camera.
Thanks to all my friends and family who came out and helped celebrate another awesome year!!

Last night my co entertainment editor and I checked out the mtvU woodie awards. It was super fun. The energy was awesome and the performances were great. I can't tell you the winners, or put up the videos yet because the show doesn't air until next week. but once it does i'll have them posted!! there were fun performances by santogold, vampire weekend, chromeo, lykke li, all time low, the cool kids and asher roth.
we couldn't have picked a better place to sit either, because they kept bringing the award winners and presenters right by us! so we got to say hi to the cool kids, all american rejects, santogold, and hayley and josh from paramore. it was an awesome night, i definitely recommend getting tickets and going next year if you're in the new york area!!
aside from last night, my co producer and I had our first show of M squared live here at monmouth! the premise of the show is to bring bands on to the campus and have them perform in front of a live studio audience, while also being simulcasted live on the tv station and radio station. Everything ran super smoothly that night thank goodness. It seemed like all the days prior to monday's show everything was going haywire, but it all came together phew!! we had an awesome turn out and the band End of An Era really got the crowd pumped and resonated so much energy. you can check them out at www.myspace.com/endofanera01 It was nice to see all our hard work appreciated by those who came out!
* if any of you know a band that can play at least 10 songs and is looking for a gig let me know!! we're looking to book bands for next semester!!!!
was hysterical! I definitely give it 2 thumbs up. Then again i'm totally biased because i love both sean william scott and paul rudd haha. Seriously though, the movie had everyone in the theater cracking up, so if you're in need of a good laugh, that is definitely the movie to see.
I also saw the bacon brothers in concert last night. That's right kevin bacon and his brother Michael have a band, and they're fun! They mix a little bit of everything into their music, from a harmonica to an accordian, to a cello. Seriously, everything! i like to think of their music stylings as some tasty bacon gumbo!! And of course after the show my friend karen and I sat around to see if we could meet them, to become a first degree of kevin bacon...because I always lose at that 6 degrees game!! unfortunately we did not get to become a first degree :( none the less it was an awesome time!!
<3
ps. if anyone went to the dropkick murphy's concert last night in AC, let me know how it was!!!
I just read the line up for a conference call for the breakout artists of this year tomorrow and it involves such artists as santogold, zoey d. from she and him, (whom i both love and who were both rated as 2 of the top 10 women who rock this year by spinner.com!!) also katie and jules of the ting tings, alex from all time low, and vampire weekend. I pretty much stoked for tomorrow!
Not so excited to be stuck at work right now and have it pouring rain out...congrats to our newest president by the way!
<3
I voted, and they ran out of stickers :( so no free starbucks for me....but I interviewed 3OH!3 today, so that was pretty exciting. If you haven't heard of them they're a mix of a little bit of everything all rolled into one! Definitely the kind of guys to get the party started...i know, very exciting! don't take my word for it, see for yourself:
www.myspace.com/3oh3
They're touring the U.S. this month and next month, so check them out if you get the chance. I'll be at their show here in NJ at the school of rock!! here's their latest video "don't trust her" just to give you a little taste to get you hooked :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdB3Oyd5HtU

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
last night my RA dressed up as uncle sam and did some reverse trick or treating. She knocked on all our doors and handed us candy...and told us to vote on nov. 4th. it was a very clever idea.
So what is everyone being? I'm being Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. should be exciting. unfortunately I won't get to see all the little kids in their outfits trick or treating because i'll be stuck at work till midnight, but at least those trick or treating have a gorgeous day to be out and about...at least in nj. Anyways, i'll be keeping up the halloween spirit by watching the ghost hunters 7 hour live event on the sci fi channel at work. i love that show..and what better thing to watch on halloween than people searching for ghosts! I hope you all have a happy and safe halloween!!!
<3
Where should I go?
What should I do?
I dont understand what you want from me.
'cause I dont know if I should trust you
or all of the things you've said to me.
and I may never know the answer to this endless mystery.
I recently heard this song again for the first time in a longg while. It pretty much accurately describes where i'm at in my life at this moment in time. I'm graduating soon and i'm definitely feeling the pressure of having to find a job that will allow me to make enough money to pay off my school loans, but while listening to this song, I also was able to take a step back and remember a really great time in my life.
It's amazing how a song can literally bring you back to a moment in time as if it happened just yesterday. I first heard of hoobastank thanks to a mountain dew ad which featured their song crawling in the dark...immediately i was hooked. Partially because i heard the song every time i was at work...at the local movie theater, which i had recently started. A bunch of my co workers were going to the show and invited me to go along. It was amazing. Hoobastank put on a great show along with greenwheel. I had such a blast, because I was 16 years old and was at my first unsupervised show at Starland Ballroom.
I fell into a mosh pit and lost my friends in the crowd, but i had the time of my life. Not to mention I got the chance to hang out with a coworker of mine who gave me butterflies in my stomach the day i was introduced to him at work. 7 years later the butterflies have long been gone, but i've become very close friends with that same guy, partially due to hanging out with him that night. Funny how life works out like that. I am lucky enough to still talk to several of the people that went to see Hoobastank on that night so long ago. It is an experience I will never forget, and I can't help but smile when I hear Hoobastank, because it always brings me back to that moment in my life....back when the only things i had on my mind were field hockey, studying for the SAT's and that boy who gave me butterflies.
<3
I feel soo trapped right now haha. I have been in the newspaper office since 1:00pm today..and it is now 10:36pm. that's almost 10 hours!!! and we're still working on this week's issue. My eyes feel like they're going to fall out of my head because i've copy edited so many stories ahhhhh!
on the upside i'm going to see trapt with my roomate on nov. 16th at the wellmount theatre in montclair. yay!!
ok sorry it took soo long to get this up, but here's the videos from my mini road trip on wed. to see hanson, and all the bands opening for them.
I had such a great time! i met some new bands that i've managed to keep talking with, so hopefully i'll be getting some articles for my paper on them soon!!
If you haven't heard of Stay, they're from boston, MA and they're totally awesome, but they found out they were cut from the lineup when they arrived, so they dissappeared for a bit, but left their shirts and cd's set up. I wanted to buy one of their cd's, but had no one to pay. I didn't want to just take the cd. so instead my genius friend jen told me to tape money to a card and tape it to their drumset so they would get the money. So we wrote a note saying "we're sorry you guys didn't get to play tonight, let us know when you come to jersey! we bought one of your cd's so here's $4 and we owe you $1 more, unfortunately we don't have another single." The bouncer called us the most honest people he's ever met haha. so we ran into a problem because i didn't know which drumset was theirs haha so we found some bags that said STAY on the front of them, so i went to go tape the card inside the bag and of course that's when they walked in. My friend jen was like hey! i know it looks like we're stealing, but we're not. It was such a funny scenario..i feel like me writing this doesnt do it justice. The guys were cool though, which made me even more upset that i didn't get to see them perform live. for shame. www.myspace.com/stayrock
jennifer hill & co. put on a fun show, they were all pretty drunk by the time they performed, and by the last song jennifer was making up lyrics to let out her frustration at the venue. all in all they were an interesting group.
Teamwork and Article A were there as well, and some members were in good spirits, while others shared in jennifer's frustration. But none the less, they all managed to put on entertaining performances, so here are the links to the videos because I can't figure out how to get them to load on here.

not in the john mayer sense, but it totally is awesome in terms of science. I checked out the BODIES exhibit today at the south street seaport. If you haven't seen it yet, you MUST go. It was so enlightening to see every piece of what's inside of us. literally every piece. I got to hold a human brain...amazing!!

If you told me that at the age of 22 I would have been seen at a hanson concert, I would have told you you were crazy. I never got really into them, in fact I only know about 2 songs by them...and i'm sure you can guess which 2. (in case you can't it's where's the love and mmbop of course) I must say I was amazed at their show though. They had the crowd going wild it was amazing. They even had me bopping along to their music. They are able to play off of one other, which i guess after living and touring with the same people for numerous years you build up that kind of repertoire with each other. It also got me thinking how awesome it must be to tour with your brothers. They must be so close, and i'm sure they fight, but at the end of the day they're still family and that's got to be so cool to be able to experience playing to thousands of screaming fans all over the world with your own siblings.
unfortunately the bands opening for them didn't have such an awesome experience, i heard due to some miscommunication, but sometimes those things happen. I thought all the opening bands were great though. each of them had personality and spunk. Especially jennifer hill & co. their whole band had been drinking for who knows how long, and got up on stage and let all their frustration at the venue out in their music. I personally loved it. I think it gave the band character. not to mention they were completely entertaining both on and off stage. I went there to see teamwork, article a, and stay, but I found out stay had been cut from the lineup. so unfortunately i did not get to see them perform :( but I did get to meet them at least, which was quite funny..but i'll explain that in part 2 of this blog. All in all for most of those bands the night was a bust, but I personally had an awesome night, met a bunch of awesome people, and i got to take my fall road trip to see the leaves change!
I took some videos, so when i get them uploaded i'll put up part 2 of this blog, and add in all the fun and funny aspects of Megan and Jen's excellent adventure!!!
<3
I have been mulling over what to be for halloween and i've almost got it figured out. I have the shnazzy glasses and the feminine business suit..as well as long enough brown hair to do pull a palin updo....perfect! it's cheap and easy...the costume, that is.
now my dilemma is deciding which person to portray. Do i go as Tina Fey dressed as Sarah Palin(such as the snl skits), or as Sarah Palin dressed as Tina Fey (SP has jokingly said she will be going as tina for halloween). I know you're thinking isn't it basically the same thing? and in theory it is, except the difference is in the attitude.
half the fun of halloween is pretending to be something you're not, so do i pretend to be the poised politician who's dressing up as the comedian who makes fun of her on tv. or do i pretend to be an awesome comedian who's pretending to be a politician. quite the conundrum...thoughts anyone??? maybe i'll take a poll and people can vote on it...seems appropriate right? lol

Monmouth held the Rock Out concert last night in order to honor Chris Cosgrove, a monmouth alum who died in the line of duty. It was a really awesome charity event, that i wish i could have stayed for..unfortunately i had to go to work. Before this all happened though, I was in the student center ferociously working on a paper that was due about a week ago....why yes senioritis has kicked in....anyways I was so involved in it that I didn't realize they had begun to set up for the show. There were tons of people in and out and bands like blast rock midtown and bryce larson of stealing jane were coming to set up and start sound checks.
As i was putting the finishing touches on my very late paper, i overheard one of the guys in the band say "check it out they have vending machines with hot dogs..If I were a student here I would live off of that machine." I was puzzled at this comment because I have been at this college for almost 5 years now and I have never seen such a vending machine. but when i looked around low and behold there it was. Two brand spanking new kosher vending machines: one that sells hot dogs and one that sells other types of hot food like fries and onion rings and other odd stuff i never thought would come out of a vending machine. weird right????
I'm a bit skeptical of trying food that claims to be "fresh" out of a vending machine. How can the food be fresh?? vending machines are meant for bottled drinks and food that is sealed shut and non perishible for at least a decent amount of time. i'm pretty sure hot dogs and french fries were not meant to come out of vending machines....but if that kid in the band can try it and live...which as far as i know he is still living, then maybe just maybe one day i'll be brave enough to try it. probably not anytime soon though!
ps. if you aren't doing anything today from 6-8pm est. time and want to hear some kick ass music, check out my radio show streaming live at www.wmcx.com!!

I have just spent 4 hours sitting at work and doing nothing but watching lifetime movies. They are sooo addicting. it's like if you don't turn it off within the first 5 minutes, consider yourself done, because it hooks you in EVERY time!! and of course they're always totally cheesy and sappy, but you just can't look away. I swear, if i were a person who cried during movies, i would be bawling every time i turned on lifetime. I was definitely crying on the inside these past 4 hours.
I watched why i wore lipstick to my mastectomy and can I just tell you i LOVE sarah chalke, i mean i'm totally biased because i'm a huge fan of scrubs...but i now just love her that much more. The movie was very inspiring. As was the debut of living proof. Thank god for doctors like Denny Slamon who fought so hard for something they knew would help so many people, despite the years of hardship and sacrifice... i found it interesting, because at least to me, his fight was somewhat metaphoric to the women's fight against breast cancer.
anyways, i just felt like sharing. I totally recommend checking these movies out if you haven't seen them yet.

so I should have known that every really good day ends somewhat badly..and i had a great morning yesterday so I should have seen me getting a bogus parking ticket coming. funny thing is i got a parking ticket for parking in the correct lot? riddle me that one?? I went over to the traffic office and the officer won't take the ticket back, so now i have to go through an appeal proccess...sometimes MUPD really makes me angry.
anywho, here's an awesome video for your enjoyment. Seeing as fall out boy's album folie a deux was pushed back in order to not take away from the importance of election day, I figured this video would be appropriate to get everyone hyped up. Plus who doesn't want to see two candidates physically duking it out??
hopefully the video uploaded, but seeing as i'm technologically inclined haha i wouldn't be surprised if it didn't. here's the url just in case! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDsw2YErUcc

It has been a good day! I get to blog on this fantastic website, I booked a band for a show ...and I had a great interview this morning with Jade! (thanks Jade!)
soo my name is Megan and I'm currently in college, but i'll be graduating soon. I'm enjoying this last semester, because I have time to be way more involved in clubs like the TV, Radio, and Newspaper here on campus. *If you guys have any good up and coming bands that would like some radio play let me know!! i'll be happy to give them some play on my show!
my basic goals are to meet everyone, see the world, and do anything and everything that I can with my limited time on this planet. I realize this is an impossible goal, but it can't hurt to try, and i'm thinking TOL is a great place to get some of it accomplished, while being able to help out others by doing so!
As for the band i just booked, they're called All Parallels and they're kick ass! I love them. They put on a great show, they rock hard, and they have really interesting thoughts and meanings behind their lyrics. give them a listen at www.myspace.com/allparallels
